Mobile phone tracks cattle

There's a lot you can do with your mobile phone - and now you can add the tracking of cattle to the list.

The free mobile phone software, NLIS Express, offers to the owners and operators the opportunity to record and transfer of the National Livestock Identification scheme information in the paddock.

In Queensland, Gympie agent Dan Sullivan has been testing the software, and after a month of trial, said it was time savings.

"I've had the reader and the phone is used in a paddock sale," he says.

"We've sold a few cows, we read the NLIS while we were there and put it all through Bluetooth on the phone, and with the buyer, who passed through, so it was all done then, so it was good" .
